ANZSNP Annual Scientific Meeting 2012

The Australian and New Zealand Society for Neuropathology will hold is Annual Scientific Meeting in Perth, Western Australia.

Sunday 7th October 2012

Brian Vivian Lecture Theatre, Royal Perth Hospital, Wellington Street, Perth.

Guest Speaker will be Professor F. Mastaglia discussing "The Inflammatory Myopathies".


Professor Mastaglia is Winthrop Research Professor of Neurology at the University of Western Australia, Medical Director and CEO of the Australian Neuromuscular Research Institute (ANRI) at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre, and Emeritus Consultant Neurologist at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists, and a Member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, The Parkinson's Disease Journal, and Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders.  He has published over 400 papers and book chapters on muscle diseases, neuromuscular disorders, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and other topics and has edited a number of books on Skeletal Muscle Pathology, Inflammatory Myopathies and the Handbook of Clinical Neurology.  He has a longstanding interest in clinical aspects and the pathology muscle diseases, and in particular of inclusion body myositis and inflammatory myopathies, and has written a number of reviews on inflammatory myopathies.  In 1990 he started the first specialised clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with myosities at the ANRI in Perth, which continues to provide a State-wide service for this group of patients.





The reason this day has been chosen is the World Muscle Society will hold a Neuromuscular Training Workshop in Perth on Monday 8th October and Tuesday 9th October 2012.


The opening night of the World Muscle Society Meeting is 9th October 2012.
